You’ll enjoy around 11 hours of sunshine a day without any rain. The sea is at its most pleasant temperature (23°C). It’s high season, with a very festive atmosphere, but also crowds and top prices.

Travelling to the Algarve in August: summary of conditions
Temperatures
Temperatures reach their peak. The thermometer displays an average of 26°C (79°F) to 30°C (86°F), with possible peaks of 35°C (95°F) or more. The days are very warm, perfect for the beach and swimming.
Water temperatures
Water temperatures in the Algarve reach 22°C (72°F) to 23°C (73°F). The ocean is at its most pleasant temperature of the year.
Crowds and prizes
August is, along with July, the absolute peak of the high season. Beaches and tourist sites are crowded. Prices are at a maximum and reservations are essential well in advance.
Opening conditions
All tourist facilities operate to the maximum with extended opening hours. Continuous entertainment in seaside resorts.

Daylight hours remain long, with around 13h30 of daylight between sunrise and sunset.

On the coast
Along the coast, from Lagos to Tavira, the climate is hot but softened by the sea breeze. The days are constantly sunny with no precipitation.
Inland
Temperatures in the hinterland are very high, regularly exceeding 35°C. Outdoor activities are not recommended between 11am and 5pm.
