- Renowned culinary address: enjoy refined bistronomic cuisine in elegant surroundings at Restaurant Avenida, with a breathtaking view of the port. In fact, it’s one of our favourite restaurants in the city!
- Strategic location: facing the marina, the hotel is close to Lagos’ main tourist attractions. It’s the ideal starting point for exploring the city on foot!

Is the Lagos Avenida Hotel worth it? Our review
Certainly! As well as its central location, we were totally charmed by its rooftop with panoramic pool and lounge bar. We were also won over by the bohemian chic decor of the rooms, which are very bright and cocooning. The Avenida Restaurant was the final attraction. In fact, this was the establishment where we had the best breakfast during our stay in Lagos!
Decoration and atmosphere
As soon as we arrived, we were won over by the hotel’s bohemian chic decor. Natural materials – straw, wicker, untreated wood – create a soothing decor, full of charm. Special mention should be made of coffee tables carved from tree trunks: their visible knots are an eye-catcher. In the common areas, you’ll find large, comfortable sofas covered with soft cushions, inviting you to relax. The atmosphere here is resolutely relaxed.

The room
Our room elegantly echoed the bohemian chic style that characterizes the hotel. Beautiful, soft light poured in from the bay window, surrounded by long, floor-length curtains. The atmosphere was relaxed and conducive to letting go after a busy day exploring the city. We loved the rough-hewn wood furniture and the lighting fixtures, with their crumpled effect full of character. Ultra-comfortable, the king-size bed gave us a most relaxing night’s rest!
On the walls, straw decorations and pretty black-and-white photographs of the Algarve complete the picture with simplicity and authenticity. On the practical side, everything was there: a bottle of fresh water, a kettle and a few tea bags to enjoy a moment of calm in our cocoon. From our balcony, we enjoyed an unobstructed view of the city, ideal for observing the peaceful bustle of Lagos at any time of day.

The bathroom
In our bedroom, the bathroom opened directly onto the night space, in a modern spirit. The washbasin and mirror were installed next to the bed, without a partition, while the glass shower, integrated into the room, could be hidden behind a curtain for greater privacy. As for the toilets, they were well separated. We found bathrobes, slippers and hygiene products from Portuguese brand Castelbel, a little extra that’s always appreciated.
The breakfast
Breakfast is a generous, carefully prepared buffet. Here you’ll find delicious local products, such as woven walnut pastries, typical of Portugal, and the unmissable Pastéis de Nata. A la carte, choose from a fine selection of “homemade” dishes, like our Egg Benedict with spinach and truffle, a real treat! We really enjoyed the variety of sweet and savoury options on offer.
And to make the experience even more enjoyable, you can sit out on the outdoor terrace facing the marina. Many consider it simply the best breakfast in Lagos!
The rooftop pool
Nestled on the hotel’s rooftop, the swimming pool offers a truly cool cocoon in the heart of Lagos. Ideal for a dip in the sea, lounging on the deckchairs or simply admiring the panoramic view of the marina and the city’s skyline. The atmosphere is calm, intimate and relaxing, far from the hustle and bustle of the center. With its tasteful decor and golden light at the end of the day, it’s one of the hotel’s best spots to take a break with a cocktail in hand!
The restoration
The hotel boasts 2 bars, including a pool bar on the rooftop, perfect for sipping a refreshing cocktail overlooking the marina. You can also discover the Avenida Restaurant on the first floor, one of Lagos’ best-known addresses!

Where is the hotel?
The establishment is located at 53 Avenida dos Descobrimentos in Lagos.
- In downtown Lagos,
- 5-minute walk from the municipal market,
- 15min walk from Praia da Batata,
- 15min walk from Praia dos Estudantes.
How to get there?
The hotel is easily accessible by car from Faro or Portimão. Take the A22 westbound, then exit at the N120. At the first traffic circle, turn onto Avenida da Fonte Coberta and continue straight ahead until you reach the N125. Slow down once you have the Ribeira de Bensafrim in your sights, as the hotel will be on your right opposite the marina.

Parking
The hotel has a private parking lot for guests, but spaces are limited. At the time of our stay, it was fully booked, so we had to park in the Parking de l’Marina Rio Hotel next door, which is not free.
For people with reduced mobility
