Is the Cascade Wellness Resort worth it? Our review
In our opinion, this luxury hotel is an excellent accommodation option during a stay in Lagos. Its proximity to the superb Praia do Canavial and Ponta da Piedade is a major advantage that particularly appealed to us. It offers a wide range of quality facilities, perfect for relaxing during your vacation in the Algarve sunshine. We consider it one of the best hotels in town and highly recommend it for an unforgettable stay in the region!

Decoration and atmosphere
The decor, both elegant and cocooning, invites you to relax and unwind. The hotel has a chic yet relaxed atmosphere, which we really appreciated. Certain elements of the décor evoke a connection with nature, well-being and tranquillity.

Dominant colors include warm tones and shades of terracotta, echoing the Algarve’s famous golden cliffs. The establishment pays homage to the great Portuguese navigators: each wing of the resort will transport you to a different continent, from mysterious Asia to vibrant Africa! The friendly staff adds to the warm, welcoming atmosphere.

The room
We were pleasantly surprised by the decoration of our room, which recalled the world of the “beach”, with its shades of blue and long, transparent curtains. We particularly liked the imposing headboard, the pretty lights, the 2 cosy armchairs facing the balcony, the thick carpet and the photographs hanging on the walls.

In terms of facilities, we found a coffee machine with pods, tea bags, glass bottles of water, a minibar and a safe. The centerpiece of our room was the balcony overlooking the garden and the ocean on the horizon.

The bathroom
Our bathroom had both a shower and a bathtub. Hygiene products from the L’Occitane en Provence cosmetics brand and slippers were available. The room was spacious and beautifully decorated, with portions of the walls covered in blue mosaic reminiscent of Portuguese azulejos. A wooden blind separated the bathroom from the bedroom.

The breakfast
Breakfast at the hotel takes the form of an extensive buffet, featuring a variety of sweet and savory foods: cold cuts, cheeses, salads, breads, cakes, pastries, cereals, yogurts and fresh fruit. You’ll also find local products such as the famous Pastéis de Nata, delicious Portuguese pastries.

It’s also possible to order dishes cooked in front of your eyes, such as scrambled eggs. Vegan and gluten-free options are available. The room in which breakfast is served is decorated with great care, but we recommend that you enjoy this moment on the outdoor terrace facing the pool, as we do!

A LITTLE MORE patience
All the photos, maps, information and addresses you need to make your stay in Portugal a success will soon be available in a single ebook!

Swimming pools and beach access
The hotel boasts 2 huge outdoor pools surrounded by a host of sun loungers and parasols. One of them features a sandy area, recreating a real “beach” atmosphere. Another pool is hidden in the spa area.

To reach the Praia do Canavial, you first have to walk past the main pool towards the sea. You then walk along the fence to find the passageway leading to the signposted paths of Ponta da Piedade. Access to this beach is not well signposted. It lies outside the wooden pontoons that wind around the cliff tops. Read our dedicated article here!

The descent is steep. The floor is very slippery. There’s a high risk of falling if you’re not wearing the right shoes. Take your time reaching the sand. This beach is well worth a visit! It totally charmed us with its high ochre cliffs and turquoise waters.

Equipment and common areas
The resort has a gym and offers a full program of varied classes. A boot-camp package combining sport, nutrition and well-being is also available. Facilities also include a kids’ club, soccer pitch, tennis courts, games room with pool table and mini-golf, and many other surprises!

For relaxation, there’s a large spa complex with sauna, Jacuzzi, steam room, ice fountain and swimming pool. Treatments and massages inspired by the world are available.

The restoration
The hotel is home to Restaurant Senses, which blends international haute cuisine with local fare, while Restaurant The Gastropub offers simpler Portuguese fare. You can also take advantage of the on-site bars, including the Lighthouse Bar, a lounge bar serving cocktails and snacks, and Sandy Bay – the Pool Bar, a poolside bar serving drinks and snacks.
