We really enjoyed our stay in this unusual accommodation, which makes a change from traditional hotels without sacrificing comfort. In fact, it’s one of the best hotels in Albufeira. Here are its 3 main assets, in our opinion:
- Unusual and original: we loved sleeping in a nicely appointed floating apartment’hotel, overlooking the Albufeira marina. A different experience that left its mark on us!
- Privileged setting: moored in a quiet location, yet just a stone’s throw from the port’s restaurants and entertainment, and close to Albufeira’s historic center, you’ll enjoy an ideal location for exploring the seaside town without the hustle and bustle of the city center or crowded beaches.
- Comfort and autonomy: each boat has a kitchenette, private bathroom and outdoor terrace, perfect for an independent stay.

Yes, without hesitation! The Homeboat Company offers an original and relaxing experience, ideal for discovering Albufeira in a different way. For us, it’s one of the city’s most unusual addresses. We appreciated the comfort of the floating apartments, their tasteful decor and the peaceful atmosphere of the marina. What’s more, the location is convenient: you’re close to Albufeira’s main attractions, yet away from the hustle and bustle of the city center and busy beaches. A great alternative for an original way to discover the Algarve.

Decoration and atmosphere
We liked the sober, elegant and modern decoration of our apartment. The atmosphere was bright and cozy: light wood, bright colors and sleek furnishings created a modern yet warm decor, inviting you to relax. From inside, large bay windows offer a direct view of the marina and its colorful facades, reinforcing this feeling of disconnection while remaining close to the hustle and bustle.
With its meticulous design, relaxed atmosphere and unusual spirit, everything is in place for a stay that’s both comfortable and out of the ordinary.

The room
Our room seduced us with its simple, uncluttered and harmonious decor. We found its cosy, bright and welcoming atmosphere ideal for relaxing at the end of the day.
From our bed, we had a direct view of the marina, with its colorful facades and boats coming and going. This is a real plus, as you can enjoy the bustle of the port without being immersed in the hustle and bustle.
Kitchen and living room
We liked the fact that everything had been thought out so that we could stay on our own! In the kitchenette, we found a coffee maker, a kettle, a toaster, a microwave, a juicer, as well as everything needed for cooking: frying pans, saucepans, cutlery, plates, glasses, cups and kitchen utensils. There was even a wine carafe for aperitifs on the terrace.
In the same space, a lounge area with a comfortable sofa and TV lets you relax in the evening.

The terraces
We loved the 2 terraces:
- The first, at the front of the apartment, runs along the harbor quay. There’s a table, a barbecue and a hammock: ideal for an outdoor meal or a relaxing moment watching the boats go by.
- The second, on the roof, offers an unobstructed view of the entire marina. It is equipped with a hammock and deckchairs, perfect for relaxing in the sun.
These 2 outdoor spaces added a real plus to our experience. We were able to relax and watch the port life.

The bathroom
Our bathroom, though compact, was functional and carefully appointed. We found a pleasant shower, with Portus Cale hygiene products on hand. A local brand of natural cosmetics. The bathroom is rather small, ideal for one person, but very unsuitable for 2 at the same time.
Despite its small size, we appreciated the decorative touches: paintings and luminous details creating a warm and pleasant atmosphere.
The breakfast
The breakfast offered by The Homeboat Company is an original experience, as it is delivered directly to the pontoon in a pretty basket furnished to your liking. We really enjoyed it, thanks in particular to the presence of typical local products, such as Bolo de Arroz, which adds a local, authentic and gourmet touch.
The choice is generous and balanced, with sweet options – homemade jams, pastries, fresh fruit, natural juices, yoghurt cake, cereals – and savoury – cheeses, cold meats, eggs, fresh bread and butter. Every element is of the highest quality and presented with care, perfect for starting the day off right in this unique waterside setting.

How to get there
You can get to Albufeira by train from Portugal’s other major cities, including Lisbon (2h45) and Faro (50min). You can book your tickets on the Comboios website here. To get to Albufeira station from the city center, we recommend you take a cab or the bus. The nearest airport isFaro, which is served by major European cities such as Paris, London, Barcelona, Amsterdam and Dublin. Faro is easily accessible by car, with major highways such as the A22, N125 and N2.

Parking
Free underground parking is available in the marina parking lot. To do this, remember to inform us as soon as you book, so that we can collect the card that gives you free access to the reserved parking space.
For people with reduced mobility
The establishment is not very suitable for people with reduced mobility: there is a space separating the quali from the accommodation. However, there is an access ramp linking the harbor quays to the pontoon. Here’s a photo to help you:
Is The Homeboat Company family-friendly?
Yes, The Homeboat Company’s boats in Albufeira are ideal for a family holiday, as long as you bear in mind that the concept is rather intimate and limited in terms of capacity. Some boats are equipped with bunk beds in addition to the main double bed (sofa bed in the saloon), so that up to 4 people can stay on board – ideal for a couple with 1 or 2 children.
Floating apartments offer all the necessary comforts: kitchenette, living room, terraces with hammocks… A pleasant solution for independent vacations in an original setting. It’s also an unusual experience that’s sure to appeal to younger guests: sleeping on the water, watching the boats and harbor life from the terrace…
Please note, however, that the space remains compact, and the immediate proximity of water means that particular care must be taken with young children. The Homeboat Company doesn’t offer specific services for families, such as a kids’ club or supervised swimming pool, but it’s an accommodation that may be suitable for a short family stay looking for calm, originality and autonomy.
