History and inspiration
The Hotel Lisboa Pessoa in Lisbon doesn’t have a rich history like some establishments nestled in historic buildings. He does, however, pay tribute to Portuguese poetry, particularly Fernando Pessoa. So we thought it might be interesting to take a few lines to evoke this character.

Fernando Pessoa (1888-1935) is one of the greatest Portuguese poets of the XXᵉ century: we were struck by the modernity of his work and the way he multiplied poetic voices through his famous heteronyms (Alberto Caeiro, Ricardo Reis, Álvaro de Campos, among others) to explore different forms and sensibilities. His influence on Portuguese literature is immense; texts such as Mensagem and Livro do Desassossego (attributed to the heteronymous Bernardo Soares) testify to his ability to blend nostalgia, metaphysical reflection and irony. When you stay at the hotel, you’ll find these literary echoes scattered throughout the decor and reading areas. They’ll help make your stay both relaxing and culturally stimulating.
