Unlike boat trips, kayaking provides access to the narrowest caves and natural arches, offering total immersion in this spectacular landscape. We absolutely loved paddling along these golden cliffs, gliding on the turquoise water and admiring the play of light through the rock formations!

Our Algarve kayaking adventure in Ponta da Piedade
Paddling at Ponta da Piedade was one of the highlights of our stay in the Algarve! As soon as we left the Port of Lagos, we were amazed by the beauty of the ochre cliffs plunging into the ocean. After a 10-minute boat ride to the nearest site, we boarded the kayaks. We had the exceptional opportunity to explore secret caves and cross natural arches sculpted by time. This kayak excursion was a real treat, with its sense of freedom and breathtaking scenery!

When to book and kayak in Ponta da Piedade?
High season (June to September) is the most popular time of year, so we advise you to book your kayak trip several days in advance to guarantee your place. April, May and October also offer excellent conditions, with fewer tourists. – see available options here!
This activity is available all year round. Even on overcast days, the experience remains incredible: rock formations and caves reveal surprising nuances, and the ocean generally remains calm. If possible, choose the morning for optimum conditions and magnificent light on the cliffs.

What to bring?
All technical equipment is provided by the tour organizer, from kayaks to paddles and life jackets. Remember to bring your own:
- a bathing suit or light, quick-drying clothes suitable for water,
- swimming shoes or sandals for greater comfort when boarding,
- sunglasses with drawstrings so you don’t lose them in the ocean,
- sunscreen and a cap to protect you from the heat,
- towels to dry off after your outing,
- a bottle of water and a snack, because paddling makes you thirsty and sometimes even hungry,
