They&#8217;re all well placed for exploring this magnificent region, but with distinct advantages depending on your priorities.<br\/>Albufeira&#8217;s central location makes it easy to explore the eastern and western Algarve. Lagos lies at the western end of the region, close to some of the most spectacular natural sites. And Portim\u00e3o enjoys an intermediate location, close to many attractions.<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Lagos to Portim\u00e3o = 20min drive<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Portim\u00e3o to Albufeira = 25min drive<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lagos to Albufeira = 45min drive<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>Faro airport is the main international airport serving the Algarve.<br\/>Lagos airport: 1h15 drive<br\/>Portim\u00e3o airport: 50min drive<br\/>Albufeira airport: 30min drive<br\/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.directferries.co.uk\/corsica.htm?dfpid=1915&amp;affid=21\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener sponsored nofollow\">Compare available flights.<\/a><\/p>\n\n<p>All three towns have railway stations with links to Lisbon and other major Portuguese cities. We found it easy to navigate between the town center, the marina and the main beaches, with the emphasis on walking. Connections to Ferragudo are also regular and convenient.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Getting around Albufeira<\/h3>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Portugal\/Algarve\/Albufeira\/Best-of-vaut-la-peine\/i-K88KGj6\/0\/LqKVX47JqvpDnnbCTk9QHQDcR7mB3n3PWCRZc7s4r\/L\/albufeira%20parking%20marina-L.jpg\" alt=\"parking albufeira\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p>Albufeira has a clear organization between the perched old town and the seaside area. We appreciate how easy it is to get around each area on foot, even if the gradients can be surprising. Shuttle buses and cabs provide easy connections between the various districts.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Our review<\/h3>\n\n<p>Portim\u00e3o earns our preference for its ease of travel and good connections. We found this destination particularly convenient for families and travelers wishing to avoid transport constraints.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Can we visit all three cities on the same trip?<\/h2>\n\n<p>Absolutely! The proximity of the 3 destinations makes it easy to combine them on the same trip. We recommend a minimum of one week or 10 days to fully appreciate each city.
