Do you dream of a confidential cove, nestled between golden cliffs, with crystal-clear water and a peaceful ambience? Praia dos Aveiros could well be your little corner of paradise in Albufeira. Not as well known as the big beaches nearby, we loved its unspoilt natural setting, perfect for relaxing or exploring the rocks at low tide.
Here are some useful tips for planning your visit to the Praia dos Aveiros in Albufeira.

This opinion is completely independent, based on our experiences. We visited the region anonymously, making our own choices and paying our bills in full.
Is Aveiros Cove worth it?
Yes, Aveiros Cove is well worth a visit! Also known as Praia dos Aveiros, this cove isone of Albufeira’s most secret and charmingbeaches. Nestled between golden cliffs, it offers an intimate, unspoilt setting, far from the hustle and bustle of main beaches like Praia dos Pescadores. Its crystal-clear water and fine sand make it an ideal place to relax or explore the small caves and rocky nooks and crannies at low tide.
Its peaceful atmosphere makes it a real little corner of paradise, which we really enjoyed. But beware: access can be a little tricky (see our practical tips below), which also contributes to its discreet charm. If you like secluded coves and wild coastal landscapes, Praia dos Aveiros is definitely worth a visit!
It’s one of Albufeira’s most beautiful beaches and also one of the town’s main attractions!

Beach type: sandy, supervised…
Sand or no sand?
The beach floor is made of fine ochre-colored sand. We loved lying there after a day of sightseeing!

Swimming conditions and supervision
The access slope to the water is gentle. The rocks on either side of the beach are a haven for biodiversity. It’s the ideal beach for snorkeling.
Signs indicate that the beach is supervised in season, and we saw lifeguards there.

Installations
We found showers and toilets right on the beach.

Access to Praia dos Aveiros, Albufeira
Where is Aveiros Cove?
- In the town of Albufeira
- Less than a 10-minute drive from the historic district
- Near Praia dos Alemães and Praia da Oura
Attentionthe beach may be difficult to locate. Don’t rely solely on your GPS (Google Maps or Waze), which may direct you to the wrong place (we’ve been there). Good access is via Rue Bécon Vasca da Gama, close to theAuramar Hotel. Follow these instructions to avoid unnecessary detours. Disregard any prohibitions of passage that only concern access to residences. No beach in Portugal is private.
(Here are the Google Maps coordinates of the road entrance: 37.085205, -8.232206)

You’ll then need to follow the path for a few minutes. You’ll first skirt a hotel complex on a paved path:

Then down the stairs to the beach:

Access by car and parking
Access by car is easy via well-maintained roads. You can park along the road not far from the beach. In high season, however, it may be more difficult to find a parking space.

OUR ADVICE FOR RENTING A CAR IN THE Algarve
- Compare prices on our preferred platform: DiscoverCars – one of the best rated sites.
- Don’t take a car that’s too wide, as old towns have narrow streets and small parking spaces.
- For more choice, book early.

Access from Albufeira
From Albufeira, take the main avenue: Avenida dos Descobrimentos , then turn into Rue Dufermline and continue straight ahead before turning into Avenue Infante Dom Henrique and finally into Rue Bécon Vasca da Gama, where you’ll find the start of the path leading down to the beach.

Public transport access
If you’re taking public transport, the “Areias S. João” stop on the city’s transport network is the nearest.
To plan your itinerary, please consult the route maps, timetables and fares here.

Useful information
Dog
Dogs are not allowed on the beach.

Reduced mobility access
We didn’t see any facilities to facilitate access to the beach for people with reduced mobility. What’s more, the path to the beach is strewn with cobblestones and numerous steps.
For your information: we have learned that in Portugal, 244 seaside areas are accessible to people with reduced mobility. In Albufeira, for example, we recommend the Praia dos Alemães or the Praia dos Pescadores. These beaches are identified by a white flag bearing the “Plage accessible” symbol in blue and yellow. They feature reserved parking spaces, adapted pedestrian access, walkways over the sand and accessible toilets. Find out more here.

With children
The slope is gentle and ideal for a visit with children.
- On the other hand, beware of the swell, which can form large waves in bad weather.
- You should also be careful not to sit under cliffs, even if they offer some shade: there is a risk of falling rocks.

Naturism
It is not possible to practice naturism on this beach.

Eating out
On site, you can dine at the Aveiros Restaurant, which offers a panoramic view of the beach.
